With our celebrities setting pricey #weddinggoals, the indian wedding market is alive and thriving. An average wedding cost in India is aanywhere between 5 lakh to 6 crore. A survey on the Indian wedding market in 2018 pegs the wedding services at $54 billion. Rubber price at low level

: The persistent fall in the price of natural rubber has caused concern among rubber farmers in Kerala, which accounts for more than 94 per cent of the commodity’s total production in the country.
Rubber price, which ruled around Rs 220 per kg in January 2011, has now touched a low of Rs 123 per kg in the domestic market due to lower demand for the commodity in the wake of general economic slowdown and lower price in international market.
Stakeholders in the industry have sought the Centre and state government’s immediate intervention to arrest further fall in the price of rubber.
The continuing slowdown in demand from the domestic tyre industry, which consumes over 50 per cent of the total natural rubber production in the country coupled with a bearish trend in overseas market, is adding to the pressure on prices, according to rubber experts.
With prices becoming unremunerative in the face of rising cost of production, mainly because of high wages of tappers and rising cost of fertilisers, growers have also started staying away from production.
The state government’s scheme of rubber procurement at a higher rate than the daily market price also didn’t take place as envisaged, pushing farmers further into trouble, feel experts.
However, they pointed out that price would not fall further as off-season for rubber production starts from February. There is also concern among the tyre industry that if price falls further, rubber growers might move away from its cultivation which would result in shortfall in supply in the long-run.
“We want rubber farmers to start tapping and produce rubber and bring it to market, and government also should ensure a remunerative price for their product,” Indian Rubber Dealers Association president George Valy told here.
The total area under rubber cultivation in Kerala is 5.45 lakh hectares.
It is the livelihood of as many as 11.50 lakh farmers and most of them are small holders having less than 1.5 hectares under rubber. Total rubber production in Kerala for the year 2012-13 was eight lakh tonne.Download The

En route to Empowerment

The 4.7 percent increase in the number of women CEOs during the past 2 years has set in a hot discussion on this topic. The rise of women CEOs to 12.4 percent gives a true picture of empowered women in our country. This is a positive hope towards the disturbing trends of past many years.
The path to empowerment for a woman was never easy. From the patriarchial society to literacy and now leading to entrepreneurship. The transformation was gradual and slow. It was never easy to break the walls of various oppressive notions of the society.
Saying about this, we have a few must- mention women. Chanda Kochar, MD and CEO of ICICI bank portrays true women power. She was ranked 40th in the Fortune’s 50 most powerful women in the world. The recent discussions were based on Indra Nooyi who left her position as the CEO of PepsiCo, a multinational company on October. We also have Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, founder and MD of Biacon who is the first woman to guide the functioning of a foreign bank.
There is a need to mention the immense efforts taken by educational institutions and government for emphasising on vocational education and promoting women entrepreneurs. It is the small scale of investment in terms of time, energy and knowledge that has produced large scale results. The seed of leadership is sown in every woman. The more we nurture it the more leaders and CEOs we have as harvest. Women entering and leading the business field has led to the upliftment of our nation and helped in its race to become a developed country.

Farmer’s problems are becoming a political issue. But Farmers and analysts say many of the issue remain unresolved, as Farmers continue to face financial challenges.

The farmers’unrest across the country and particularly across several BJP-ruled states, appears to have caught the central government by surprise. Since candidate Narendra Modi which came to power in 2014 promise the Farmers in the form of doubling of Farmers income in five years. Farmers have been waiting for these promise to be fulfilled. Three years down the line , they feel cheated
The other issues monsoon and MSPS function as floors to the markets price is another problem that Farmers faces. This highlight the ineffectiveness of procurement policy in different states. The fact that Farmers’ unrest has been marked in BJP-ruled states are not reflect’political conspiracy’ has been alleged.
During the post-independce period, agrarian unrest of various types have taken place, such as ranging from the legendary telengana movement and the PEPSU tenant movement to Naxalite movement.

On March 12 over 30,000 Farmers marched nearly 200km to mumbai to share their grievance with the maharashtra government. only week ago , thousands of Farmers led a comparable demonstration in shimla. while loan waivers and better MSP were part of these agendas , few political observers expected that common demand among them would be land. Most of these peasant movement occurred due to the government policy of paying law agricultural prices for controlling the price of food and raw-materials.
National Crime Record Bureau of India reported 51650 Farmers suicides in 2014 . India is an agrarian country with around 70% of its people depending directly or indirectly up on agriculture.
